BNSF 7959 in the two of four slot on nearest quad group - and look closely at the diesel tank... the semi-vertical brush strokes give a mild indication of the heavy down-pour falling on the intrepid photographer, but doesnt hint at the complete lack of light (or common sense) just a couple minutes after four in the afternoon/early evening. |

BNSF 7168 & BNSF 6719 ready-and-waiting in the December rains in the pre-sort yard near Subaru off-loading dock (to the right of the frame) at the entrance of the reversing loop (nearly directly behind the photographer in this image)... almost eleven in the morning and still looking like a night shot; but Im not complaining! Twenty-seven of the last twenty-eight days were all rain, were possibly looking at almost a foot-and-a-half of rain since December one, but its all worth it after the past eight months of beautiful shooting weather. Im sorry, but after all that nice weather, getting all upset about global warming is a little tough (just kidding... I think... but it is nice to be neutral feeling about rain instead of, "Wow. What a shock. Another day of rain.") |

United Grain Republic |
Description: |
United Grain appears to have a new Republic little workhorse running around now that the old, venerable 1000/1200/1500s seem to have disappeared. While it is bright, shiny, and new (and potentially smells better than the old ones), its a little sad to see them gone as 2015 draws to a close. Of course, it would be nice if this is to become the active unit a registry number would be welcomed (and maybe make up for the horrid little noises the thing makes compared to a real train engine (no insult intended, but it sounds like a lawn-mower). |

Description: |
BNSF 4603 as five-of-six at the front of a westbound mixed freight proving that as fast as Rapido can generate the livery, the prototype can change - A/C unit in pastel orange, but closer to BNSF pumpkin orange than the old ATSF silver units were. Good thing I model in L gauge/scale - I just have to pop off the light grey brick and put in a light orange one... just as soon as I can find that color. (What? "L" gauge... Lego... no, seriously. Model railroading for the cheapskate. How so? All you folks have to completely repaint, then re-weather, then... well, you get the idea - to catch up to changing livery. Me? Like I said - pop off a brick, stick on a new one (Fine - because of interlocking, I have to disassemble the upper layer above it, but you get good as elevating along the fault line and trick popping the brick out so you can seat the new one.) |

BNSF 7156 |
Description: |
BNSF 7156 coming out of the shadows at the front of a southbound double-stack double-header on approach to the north yard / Vancouver Centers northern limit signal tree in a pretty active two minute sequence as directly behind me the approaching northbound UP 7008 triplet. (Note: the BNSF would prove to actually be a double-stack fronting for a string of auho-racks in a southbound combination out of the Seattle-Tacoma sea-to-rail exchange area.) |

BNSF 2307 |
Description: |
BNSF 2307 three-of-three with nose to the load in the lower yard switch-out duty - which might see less action now with the tunnel passing below the train bridge allowing a complete by-pass of the southern yard-station-wye throat area which this particular track relies upon the drop-down grade that crosses the mains. |

BNSF 1746 |
Description: |
BNSF 1746 (originally mis-typed (fumble fingers!) as 2339) middle of the working class threesome down in the old lower yards between United Grain and the Sewage Plant (I mean, "Wastewater Purification Site") in a few moments of sun before the rains return. (I just noticed this reported out as a GP38-2 (When it was mis-identified!)... I thought that meant double axle on each end, not SD-style triple axle with lounging decks... 'course, I'm also the world's worst at power ID, so take the question for what it's worth.) |

UG-Republic and BNSF 474538 covered hopper |
Description: |
UG-Republic and BNSF 474538 covered hopper serving up United Grain (in the background) on the blind haul-through tracks that arc around the warehouse (not sure if its still Northwest Pack vegetable/fruit canner/packer warehouse - the old Del Monte competitor from a couple blocks away) under skies that are threatening to return to topping off the rain gauge, which hasnt overflowed yet (but only because someone keeps emptying it). And can I say it? Would it really kill you to buy a $3.99 can of spray paint and hit this little unit with a registry number? |

BNSF 1746 |
Description: |
BNSF 1746 in second place currently on local freight sort and shift cut coming out of the lower yard (the water treatment (sewage) plant directly to the right, United Grain silos off to the left in a flowers-n-trees-n-trains shot trying to make the most of weird lighting casts as it spits and sputters rain. |

Description: |
BNSF 2824 coming out of the under-pass/tunnel below the Columbia River train bridge area and onto the new via-duck (or is it via duct?) over the newest scheduled to be developed area between old down-town Vancouver and the waterfront (now that it only floods once every twenty to thirty years... well, I guess thats better than NOrlins (New Orleans for those not of the South). |

BNSF 5317 |
Description: |
BNSF 5317 over the people tunnel between Who-Songs-and-Larrys parking lot and the "Old Apple Tree" (I believe oldest one in Washington / the country?) (and not visible in this picture... but the tunnel is visible... the tree would be visible through the tunnel (maybe) as long as you didnt want to see the train which is already trying to hide behind the other trees - so made a fair and balanced choice). |
