Heritage
Title:  Heritage
Description:  When Connecticut DOT funded the purchase of power to put into Metro Norths pool, it opted to honor the states New Haven heritage by painting its new GEs in the 1950s McGinnis scheme. It looks good on these engines, and it is well adapted to the lines of the new power.

Out of place
Title:  Out of place
Description:  Or so it would seem. Metro North operates several units paid for by Connecticut DOT, which honors their rail heritage by painting them in the McGinnis scheme of the late 1950s. It looks good on them, and they do stand out, as seen from across the river at Bear Mountain State Park. Since Metro North pools the power, these units can be seen on the Hudson Line just as easily as in Danbury.

You know where you are
Title:  You know where you are
Description:  The clock tower at Waterbury is a distinctive feature of the station, and is visible from around town, and also I 84, which passes south of the station. This was once all New Haven territory. Now the commuter trains are run by Metro North, and the freight, at the time was handled by Guifords B&M, as it had been since Conrail sold most of its Connecticut lines in the early 80s.
