Title:
VGN 2-10-10-2 #800 - Virginian
Description:
Very intriguing photo of the wrecked boiler of Virginian 2-10-10-2 #800 after an explosion in 1941. Built by Alco-Schenectady in 1918 as one of 10, this unit met with disaster. Strange that several sources list #800 as being scrapped in March of 1952. Can anyone explain the unusual gap before being scrapped? Was this unit rebuilt??? The photographer's signature on the back appears to be J.R. Rund (or Ruid).
