Description:  Back in Indiana for the first time in 6 days. Today my dad and I are concluding our 7 day Galesburg Trip. Today we will start the day in Gary at Pine Jct then we will work Northwest Indiana for the remainder of the day. After eating some breakfast at the hotel, we made our way towards Pine. On our way, we came up beside the South Shore and caught a South Shore commuter awaiting a days worth of work.

Sure didnt dissapoint either! 24 trains in about 2 hours and 45 minutes. Just comes to show you how busy Pine Jct. really is! Now onto Hammond!

Description:  Not too far behind the Amtrak, UP 8819 led CSX Q601, beginning its journey up the quiet Porter Branch. Mainly coal trains use this line. Only CSX Q601/Q602 and a local or two are the only scheduled trains. Still have not seen a CSX engine yet on this line, but its always fun to catch one on the Porter Branch!
