KCS S12 1161 |
Description: |
Kansas City Southern S12 1161 at Kansas City, Kansas on August 15, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Number 1161 was built in April 1951 (c/n 75055), one of four Baldwin S12's delivered to the KCS (#'s 1160-1163). It has Milwaukee Road transfer caboose 01747 in tow, explained in comments to another photo of this situation: Jeff Carlson commented on 2/7/2012 8:18:37 AM; Interesting. Regarding the KCS-MILW combo, the two of them share Knoche Yard in KC, referring to it as the "Joint Agency." This agreement continues today with the KCS and CP (ICE). Chris Guss commented on 2/7/2012 6:32:13 PM; Knoche's Joint Agency term is just that. The locals based out of there use a mixture of crews and equipment on all jobs based in the terminal. Just like the equipment in your photo is mixed, the crew on board is also a mixture of KCS and MILW crewmembers. |
