Here is a photo via Rail Photo Service. Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #3879 and another locomotive whose road number is not recorded. Both are K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacifics." Engine #3879 was built in Juniata during June of 1923 and retired in September of 1956 after 33 years of faithful service. In this context, they're pulling the "Manhattan Limited." Note that the trailing "Pacific" sports a long-distance tender! The photographer's name, the exact date, and the location are not recorded. John S. Fisher Collection; #20 of 36. |
