Puffing smoke as it rolls through West Portal, NJ is Lehigh Valley 4-8-4 "Wyoming" (LV's name for Northerns) #5202. Built by ALCo-Schenectady in April of 1932 (serial #68611, class T-2a), the loco barely served 19 years before being scrapped in January of 1951 when the diesels hit the roster. Specs - 70" cylinders, 255 psi boiler pressure, 26x32" cylinders, engine weight of 424,000 lb, tractive effort of 66,700 lb. No date or photographer was listed for the photo so an approximate date was used. |
