L&N Work Equipment |
Description: |
This Louisville & Nashville work equipment was parked in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi while the railroad was repairing the extensive damage from HURRICANE CAMILLE, which made landfall in this area on 17 August 1969. The green International pickup truck was assigned to the railroad’s 3-man floriculture gang, which was based here. This crew maintained the landscaping around the station here and at Pass Christian, Long Beach, Gulfport, Biloxi, Ocean Springs, Pascagoula and Mobile. A coast tradition since the 1920’s, their jobs were eliminated soon after this photo.(approximate date of photo) |
