The track and roadbed long since gone, the Neshanic Station CNJ railroad station lives onÛas a private residence. The CNJ Flemington Branch, originally the South Branch Railroad, opened in 1864 and ran from Somerville, through the Duke Estate in Hillsborough, aid paralleled the Lehigh Valley from Flagtown to Rockefellow Mills, where it turned southwest toward Flemington. The line from Somerville to Three Bridges was abandoned 1960ish. The portion of the line between Three Bridges and Fl™mington is now being operated by the Black River & Western Railroad. The abandoned ROW of the ex-CNJ Flemington Branch can still be clearly seen on Google Earth. |
