HOG 1807
While I was taking pictures, I got to talking to one of the mechanics there. He told me that they had pulled this locomotive out of the woods about three years ago. He said it had trees growing out of the hood and was really rusty. They had to replace the wheels to get it out. Good to see another locomotive given a new life. Love the paint job!

Jared Blocker General The engine was in Sylvania when nature started taking over it. It was also stripped of its trucks. The trucks were replaced and NS picked up the engine at Ardmore a few years ago. On the way to Savannah the dead vines caught fire inside the trucks. It stayed at our engine terminal Savannah for a while before being given to CSX to take to Progress Rail in Patterson. 6/11/2011 5:14:14 PM
