In 1985 the Kansas City Southern abandoned eight miles of track on its main line into New Orelans -- between Shrewsbury and Frellsen -- and began using trackage rights over the parallel Illinois Central Gulf; however, the KCS continued to serve a couple of customers on its old line across from New Orleans International Airport via a new connection that was built off of the ICG. KCS NW2 4223 is heading north on the ICG at Williams Boulevard in Kenner, on its way to serve the customers by the airport. The little train is passing the KENNER DEPOT, a shelter built by the City of Kenner in 1984 for a very short demonstration tour by a BRE-LEYLAND railbus. |
