PRR 9724, BF-16, 1956         
MDiv. Here is duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Robert R. Malinoski that was taken near Newport, Pennsylvania, on 11 October 1956. Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9724 and another unit whose road number is are not recorded. #9724 is a BF-16 built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in March of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966 after just 15 years of revenue service. They're pulling a train of empty hopper cars westbound along the eastward-flowing Juniata River. ("Stoneborobranch"; #23 of 56)
