Ronald Sanders General The "nicely decorated mansion" in the background is the Exchange Hotel Civil War Hospital Museum which treated more than 70,000 Union and Confederate soldiers. It began as an upscale railroad passenger hotel in 1860 and after the War returned to its former role as a railroad hotel, finally closing in 1956. It is now open as a Civil War and Railroading Museum. We get about 8 trains coming past every day (CSX & Buckingham Branch.) We welcome any and all railfans to visit. It's a good place for trainwatching with mostly coal empties, grain trains, consists and ballast trains. This is a good place for locomotive lovers. --Bob Kocovsky, Curator & General Manager (and EMD, FM & Baldwin fan) --Ron Sanders, Museum archeologist. 1/5/2008 11:18:55 PM
