CN local halts on the old team track behind the former C&NW depot at Kaukauna, WI on 24 Jun. '14. Designed in the Art Moderne style and built in 1947, it originally had a flat roof. The current gabled roof was added at some point after 1983. Local had just finished servicing Thilmany Pulp and Paper mill and was waiting for a Green Bay-bound through freight to pass before heading back toward Neenah. The chunks of concrete on the left are the remnants of a long-gone rail side structure, probably the water tower. You can see that there used to be another track to the left (north) of the main line. |
