UP 8408 tail-end pusher on double-stack duty headed toward Seattle-Tacoma in a view thats going to get a LOT more common now that Hanjin pulled out of Portland for container ships... it supplied 70-80% of all Portland-Vancouver container traffic, but due to local strikes/working slow downs/huge backlogs of loaded ships (and a disaster of a winter shipping season - sorry Washington apple farmers and everyone else that lost out (amazing the number of folks affected in the Pacific Northwest), gave official notice in February Hanjin will no longer stop in Portland - Seattle-Tacoma or Los Angeles now are the stops. Hopefully theyll settle their strikes before Hanjin and everyone else decides Vancouver (the OTHER one in Canada) and Mexico are the best places to unload/load their huge economy boosting container ships. |
