MILW 4-6-4 #144 - Milwaukee Road  Contributor's Pick!       
Long before an SD40-2 carried the number 144, this 1930 Baldwin built Baltic (Milwaukee's name for the Hudson-type locomotive) proudly wore the number. Here the Hudson is on a passenger run near Chicago, IL. Specifics - F6 class, original #6416 but renumbered in 1938, 79" drivers, 225 psi boiler pressure, 26x28" cylinders, engine weight of 375,850 lb, tractive effort of 45,820 lb, retired 12/1954. No photographer listed.
