CIM 704 - Chicago & Illinois Midland  Contributor's Pick!       
Originally built for the Atlantic Coast Line by Baldwin in 1925-26, this loco was purchased by CIM when they needed more power. It was renumbered in 1952. Note the ACL Vanderbilt tender which was later replaced with a larger NYC style tender. This was a class H-2 and renumbered to 751 in 1952. It was finally scrapped in December of 1955. No photographer listed.

Alan Fricker General The C&IM bought these locos when the ACL was dieselizing. That management knew a good deal when they saw one! the C&IM was trying to avoid dieselizing due to their Commonwealth Edison owneship and coal movement. 1/2/2016 11:18:57 AM
