PRR 2245, EF-22, 1966
Birmingham. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Birmingham, Pennsylvania, on 16 April 1966. Shown here are PRR engines #2245, #2242, and two other units whose numbers are not visible. #2245 and #2242 are EF-22's buit by EMD in 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. They are pulling an eastbound mixed-cargo freight train through what was once the whistlestop at Birmingham ~ site of the Grier School for Girls, the Birmingham School for Girls before that, and the Mountain Female Seminary before that!
