The shady side of Baltimore & Ohio Railroad stock car 113052 at Hammond, Indiana on June 27, 1987, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. There was a circle below the lower grab iron on the left side of the car which had the following lettering: C-R 6-60 CF . I found the following somewhere while trying to research these cars: Livestock Specials: The B&O operated a Livestock Special from Chicago to Cumberland as a full train and additional cars were forwarded in Time-Saver trains. The cars were loaded in the large Chicago Union Stockyard which had 13,000 lots. On the road the cattle could be showered with water at McCool, Illinois, next at La Paz Junction, and Garrett, Indiana, then Kellars, Ohio on Chicago Division and Warwick, Ohio on Akron Division. This could also be done on Pittsburgh Division at Connellsville and Yoder, Pennsylvania. |
