Long, massive, powerful and sleek all in one would be the description of this Delaware & Hudson 4-6-6-4 Challenger built by Alco-Schenectady in June of 1940. Specs - serial #69302, class J-95, 69" drivers, impressive boiler pressure of 285 psi, four 20.5x32" cylinders, massive engine weight of 597,000 lg, and impressive tractive effort of 94,000 lb. All of the D&H Challengers were scrapped between 1952-52 with only #1508 tender having survived.
