PRR 6762, M-1B, 1956
Price. Here is a photo by Bill Price that was taken near Newport, Pennsylvania, on 11 October 1956. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6762, an M-1B (4-8-2) "Mountain" built in Juniata as an M-1A during July of 1930, rebuilt as an M-1B in April of 1946, and retired in September of 1959 after 29 years of faithful service. In this context, it's rockin' 'n' rollin' with a manifest freight out of Altoona bound for Enola and points East. (Gift from Brad Mann.)
