| Here is the fourth of eight original photos by Douglas C. Jones that were taken at the Coaling Tipple in East Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1957. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6773, an M-1A (4-8-2) "Mountain" built in Juniata during November of 1930 and retired in September of 1955 after 25 years of faithful service. Note the Hostler on the tender's deck, refilling its water tank. Visible at the far right is HOMER Tower, perched at the crest of the Westbound Classification Yard. |
