Description:
Pizza Racer or Spaghetti-Train are the nicknames in Sweden for those railcars, because of their Italian origin. Y1 is based on the Italian model ALn 668. This diesel railcar was built during the period 1954–1981, altogehther 787 units in twelve series. Class Y1 railcars were gradually added to almost every unelectrified railways in passenger traffic around Sweden and thus spread across the country, from Ystad Simrishamn in the south to Haparanda line in the north.

The Y1 is a diesel-hydraulic railcar (single self-propelling carriage). It is in use in Croatia, Norway, Serbia, Kosovo and Sweden. The production of the railcars was begun in 1980 by Kalmar Verkstad and Fiat Ferroviaria for Sweden.

The railcars of SJ, which were no more needed after the county transport reform, were exported to Croatia, Serbia and Kosovo. A couple of the railcars were also sold to Norway. A total of 28 Y1 were exported 1996-2001.
