Electric Action. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken in Columbia, Pennsylvania, on 22 July 1960. The photographer is not identified. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4743, a P-5A (Modified) electric built by Baldwin-Westinghouse during February of 1935, rated at 3,750 horsepower, and retired in March of 1962 after 27 years of faithful service. Electric Scrap. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad locomotives in Frankstown, Pennsylvania, on 01 April 1962. Shown here (R to L) are PRR electric engines #4777 and #4743. Both are P-5A Modified's built in 1935 and rated at 3,750 horsepower each. #4777 was built by General Electric, but #4743 was built by Baldwin-Westinghouse. They are parked on the track leading directly into the PRR's Reclamation Plant. Next! |
