Everyday. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pittsburgh & West Virginia Railroad locomotive in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, in July of 1960. Shown here is P&WV engine #40, an AS616 built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in May of 1951 and rated at 1,600 horsepower; it was being leased by the PRR. The crew is moving some "junk" from Sender's into the Westbound Classification Yard over the Juniata River Railroad Bridge. This photo taken just East of the Bedford Street Crossing. |

Altoona Action. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken near the 4th Street Footbridge in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 3 November 1960. Shown here is Pittsburgh & West Virginia engine #40, an AS-616 road switcher built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in May of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and leased to the Pennsylvania Railroad. The PRR later purchased it, renumbered it "8114," and retired it September of 1967 after just 16 years of combined service. In this context, it's parked near the 4th Street Footbridge and SOUTH Tower. Produced & distributed by Charly's Slides. |

P&WV 40 is an AS-616 built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in May of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, purchased by the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1963 and renumbered "8114," then retired in September of 1967 after just 16 years of combined service. In this context, it's idling away near the 4th Street Footbridge and SOUTH Tower. The road number of the other locomotive pictured here is not recorded.
